We worked in Swaziland for 2 years (before we had children, business or a mortgage !) Working in such a different culture it is difficult not to become hardened to the everyday sights of poverty that surround you.  However the plight of the orphans and streetchildren of Swaziland is something that we really feel we cannot just stand back and forget.  Having our own children now has just brought it home to us how vulnerable and fragile these young children are and how vital it is that they get a loving home full of emotional and practical support.  This is why a group of friends have got together to start this charity.  A local chief has given a large plot of land and we have a house mother standing by.  Initially emkhontweni childrens home will be able to provide a home for 8 children, giving them a proper childhood in their own community with as much love as possible and the support to go to school and grow up with confidence and pride.
